His contribution to the film industry is priceless, and Woody Allen has been selected to receive the 2014 Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 71st Golden Globes .

However, given his introverted nature and distaste for big crowds, the “Midnight in Paris” director will not attend the ceremony, slated for Sunday, January 12th in Los Angeles.

Instead, Mr. Allen has asked that his “Annie Hall” costar Diane Keaton accept the trophy on his behalf, and she has reportedly agreed.

Woody has won six Golden Globe and Oscar awards over the years, though he’s only personally attended the Academy Awards once, back in 2002.
