Viola Davis Talks Airport Vomit on “The Tonight Show”
The “Help” actress explained that ever since her career took off, she’s been slowly adjusting to encountering fans in public.
Viola noted, “I am getting recognized more on the streets and in drug stores and in airports. I got recognized in the Atlanta airport. I was stranded with a sick two-year-old who had a double ear infection and bronchitis. Every time she coughed she would throw up. So I had a bunch of vomit in my hand as she was throwing up on me when a very nice woman came up to me with a receipt in her hand because she had no other pieces of paper, and a pen, and a camera, and three family members behind her.”
“And as I’m holding the vomit going, ‘Oh my God!’ she comes up to me and says, ‘Viola can I have your autograph? My family, my aunt and my cousin, they want to take a picture with you too.’ And I said, ‘Umm, I have vomit in my hand!’ But anyway, I thought to myself, ‘If I don’t take a picture with this woman, even with the vomit all over my shirt, I will be called the most ungenerous celebrity out there.’”
Davis also plugged her new flick “Won’t Back Down” which also stars Maggie Gyllenhaal and hits theaters September 28th.
Per the synopsis, “Two determined mothers, one a teacher, look to transform their children's failing inner city school. Facing a powerful and entrenched bureaucracy, they risk everything to make a difference in the education and future of their children.”
