Barbara Walters Ends Run on "The View" with Visits from Oprah & Hilary Clinton
Today is the end of an era as Barbara Walters says goodbye to her hosting chair on “The View,” and given her strong reputation in the journalism world, it’s no surprise that a few very important guests stopped by the ABC set to send her off.
During the special episode on Friday (May 16), former First Lady Hillary Clinton surprised Walters and greeted her with a big hug. "I can't believe this day has come," the politician said. "The [Most] Fascinating [People] list has been, you know, a particular interest of mine," she added with a smile. Hilary topped the list in 2013.
“You have a wealth of friends who adore you. Spend time with them, take a vacation," Clinton continued.
Barbara couldn’t let her journalist side turn down the opportunity to ask Hilary if she plans on running for president in 2016. Clinton’s response? “Well, I'm running around the park," she teased.
Barbara also welcomed another important guest when Oprah Winfrey made her way onto the stage. “You are the reason I wanted to be on television," Winfrey said. "Thank you for being a pioneer and everything that that word means. It means being the first—the first in the room to knock down the door, to break down the barrier. I thank you for [your] courage."
Walters is ending a 53-year run on television. She will be missed!
