Tom Hanks: I Have Type II Diabetes
He’s one of the most prolific actors of his generation, and Tom Hanks revealed that he’s been suffering from Type II Diabetes for years.
The 57-year-old “Forrest Gump” hunk told David Letterman that while he’s had to deal with blood sugar complications for 20 years, he only recently was diagnosed with the disease.
Hanks shared, “I went to the doctors and they said, ‘You know those high blood sugar numbers you've been living with since you were 36, well you've graduated, you've got Type 2 Diabetes young man.’”
However, Tom isn’t too concerned about maintaining his health- “Well it's controllable and through diet. My doctor said, ‘If you can weigh what you weighed in high school, you'll essentially be completely healthy and not have type 2 diabetes."
