Always the doting dad, Tom Cruise was spotted out spending time with his young daughter, Suri Cruise, in the East Village of New York City on Saturday (October 18).

While mommy Katie Holmes was busy performing a matinee of "All My Sons," the father/daughter duo headed off for some ice cream at Sundaes & Cones.

Meanwhile, it seems as if the "Top Gun" hunk's presence at Katie's Broadway grand opening was a welcome calming presence, as Katie told press, "He's been here, and he's just made me so good. I was so nervous, and I saw him and it made me feel so much better."

Revealing her man's advice before the show, Katie told press, "He said, 'Just have fun, just do what you've always done.'"
