NBC's upcoming comedy is facing some harsh critics for its so-called controversial material.

"The New Normal," which centers on a gay couple and the single mom who becomes their surrogate, will not be aired by the network’s affiliate in Salt Lake City. Jeff Simpson, CEO of KSL-TV parent company Bonneville International, said, “We have made the decision to keep it off our fall schedule."

Simpson continued to explain, "For our brand, this program simply feels inappropriate on several dimensions, especially during family viewing time.”

Ryan Murphy creator of "Glee" is scheduling to debut the new program in September. The show's star Ellen Barkin lashed out against the affliate when she tweeted, "Shame on u [KSL] not airing @NBCTheNewNormal So L&O SVU (rape & child murder) is ok? But loving gay couple having a baby is inappropriate?”

Barkin continued to add, "Anyone in Utah interested in @NBCTheNewNormal please clog up @ksl5tv feed 4 their blatantly homophobic decision 2 not air the show #KSLBigots.”

The show also stars Justin Bartha, Jayson Blair, Antoinette Abbamonte and Debbie Lee Carrington. Take a look at the trailer below.
