“Scandal,” “House of Cards” and “Breaking Bad” Among Peabody Awards Winners
Shining more spotlight on the hottest television series, 46 Peabody Awards winners were announced on Wednesday morning (April 2).
Among the recipients of the University of Georgia’s annual awards were “CBS This Morning,” ABC’s “Scandal,” Netflix’s “House of Cards” and “Orange is the New Black,” AMC’s “Breaking Bad” and BBC America’s “Orphan Black.”
All of the winners were chosen by the Peabody board and are considered “the best in electronic media” in 2013.
The Peabody Awards’ director Jeffrey P. Jones states, “The quality of storytelling in the electronic media continues to increase year-after-year across platforms, producing organizations and nations.”
He continued, “The unprecedented number of awards we gave this year reflects this fact. There simply are a large number of stories that deserve our attention as citizens and consumers. And what a wonderfully rich and satisfying set of stories we’ve called attention to this year!”
Hosted by "This American Life's" Ira Glass, the Peabody Ceremony is slated for May 19th in New York City.
