Celebs React to Stephen Colbert's "Late Show" Announcement

After much anticipation, news finally broke about David Letterman’s successor on “Late Show” this afternoon (April 10) and many celebs took to Twitter with their thoughts.

As previously reported by GossipCenter, CBS announced that Stephen Colbert is set to take over the iconic host’s position inside the Ed Sullivan Theatre.

Fellow late night men Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel were quick to dish out their congrats. Fallon penned, “I'd like to welcome the great @StephenAtHome to network late night and also congratulate him on his new name: Jimmy Colbert,” while Kimmel shared, “Congratulations to @StephenAtHome #StephenColbert - a finer or funnier man I do not know.”

Meanwhile, Craig Ferguson said, “Congratulations to the hugely talented and fragrant and lovely @StephenAtHome on the new gig. Welcome to the CBS funhouse.”

“Late Night” host Seth Meyers chimed in, writing, “Congratulations to @StephenAtHome! Could not have happened to a nicer guy,” while “Today” show host Matt Lauer tweeted, “Congratulations to Stephen Colbert.”

Jennifer McCarthy gave her two cents with, “What do you guys think about Stephen Colbert taking over Dave's spot?” And Arsenio Hall jokingly dished, “Even though Dave Letterman wants ME to replace him, @CBS wants Stephen Colbert! Oh well. You go SC! #congratz.”
