J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan to Write "Star Wars: Episode VII" Screenplay
It's one of the most successful sci-fi franchises of all times and now progress is being made on production of "Star Wars: Episode VII."
Lucasfilm announced on Thursday (October 24) that Lawrence Kasdan and director J.J. Abrams will write the highly-anticipated screenplay.
In a statement, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy shared, "I am very excited about the story we have in place and thrilled to have Larry and J.J. working on the script. There are very few people who fundamentally understand the way a 'Star Wars' story works like Larry, and it is nothing short of incredible to have him even more deeply involved in its return to the big screen. J.J. of course is an incredible storyteller in his own right. Michael Arndt has done a terrific job bringing us to this point and we have an amazing filmmaking and design team in place already prepping for production."
According to the company, location scouting, production design, casting, and costume design are already underway. Returning to give the movie a familiar sound, John Williams will score the film. Shooting on "Star Wars: Episode VII" begins in Spring 2014.
