Dale Earnhart Jr. Wins the Daytona 500; Danica Patrick Fails to Finish, but Finds Solace in 1 Million Twitter Followers
Following a lengthy weather delay, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. won the Daytona 500 for a second time on Sunday (February 23).
Overjoyed at breaking his 55-race losing streak, the 39-year-old driver told ESPN, "Winning this race is the greatest feeling that you could feel in this sport besides accepting the trophy for the championship. I didn't know if I'd ever get the chance to feel it again and it feels just as good."
Though she failed to finish the race after a crash on lap 145, Danica Patrick did have a victory to celebrate that same day.
Upon reaching 1 million Twitter followers, NASCAR's leading lady told The Detroit News, "It just shows what incredible and loyal fans I have. It's pretty humbling that 1 million people are curious about what I have to say and what I'm doing. I really can't thank everyone enough for their passion and interest."
