Oscar Ballots Are In: Here’s an Unfiltered Look!

It’s literally the biggest event of the year for the entertainment industry and the 86th Academy Awards recipients are determined by a panel of actors, directors, writers and composers.

One of the ballots made its way to The Hollywood Reporter’s Scott Feinberg who has shared the anonymous results for a brutally-honest perspective of this year’s nominees.

This morning the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced their nominees for the forthcoming Oscars, and unfortunately there were a few serious omissions.

For instance, many people were shocked to see that both “Saving Mr. Banks” and actress Emma Thompson failed to receive a nod in the Best Pictures and Best Supporting Actress categories, respectively.

The Art Directors Guild Releases its Nominations

Preparing for the 18th annual Art Directors Guild's Excellence in Production Design Awards, nominations were released today (January 8), which included box office hit films "Gravity," "The Great Gatsby" and "American Hustle."

Among the TV nominations were, "Arrested Development," "Breaking Bad" and "Behind the Candelabra," and the movie nominations are broken down into three categories: period film, covering movies set in the pre-Civil War south through the late 1970's-early 1980's, fantasy film, and contemporary film.



“Mary Poppins” Stars Julie Andrews & Dick Van Dyke Reunite at “Saving Mr. Banks” Premiere

Almost a half century ago, they starred together in “Mary Poppins,” and last night (December 9) Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke got to reconnect at the Hollywood premiere of the new flick “Saving Mr. Banks.”

The “Sound of Music” actress and the “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” star both showed up to see the new Walt Disney film, based on the making of their iconic flick.

AFI Announces Top 10 Films and TV Shows

Honoring the best and brightest on screen this year, the American Film Institute announced its movie and television winners for the annual awards.

Determined by a jury of AFI members, scholars, film and television artists, critics, and AFI trustees, the ten film honorees are "American Hustle," "Captain Phillips," "Fruitvale Station," "Gravity," "Her," "Inside Llewyn Davis," "Nebraska," "Saving Mr. Banks," "12 Years a Slave," and "The Wolf of Wall Street."



“HER” Scores Best Film Honors from National Board of Review

It’s been receiving all kinds of industry buzz as of late, and now “HER” has been named the 2013 Best Film of the Year by the National Board of Review.

Additionally, director Spike Jonze nabbed the Best Director win, giving the provocative flick plenty of steam for awards season.

Giving the amazing untold account of how the “Mary Poppins” film came to be, “Saving Mr. Banks” has just released a teaser trailer.

The much-anticipated project stars Tom Hanks as Walt Disney and Emma Thompson as author P.L. Travers, the woman responsible for writing the beloved children’s books.
