Making his first appearance on the NBC Network, Sam Champion stopped by the "Today Show" this morning (January 16).

The former "Good Morning America" weatherman paid a visit to the morning show, while his past rival Al Roker gave his latest weather updates.

While Mr. Roker was explaining the recent cold front, a random video window appeared featuring Sam, that seemed to catch the meteorologist by surprise.

"We're also looking at Champion, Ohio where we expect to see... Oh, it's Sam Champion. Oh, my gosh! How's the weather in your neck of the woods, same?"

Mr. Champion soon emerged on the set of "Today" and received hugs from his new colleagues Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie and even Al.

Sam unexpectedly left "GMA" last month to take a role at a new morning talk show for NBC's Weather Channel.

When asked about the updates on the upcoming 3-hour series, Sam refused to drop any hints. "We're going to present a really good, focused weathercast of live events of what's going on in the weather in the morning," He explained. "We want them to get that full complement, that fully experience."

Savannah joked, "Having Al and Sam at the same channel, I would call this a weather forecaster vortex."
