Philip Seymour Hoffman Pal Launches Writers’ Foundation After Winning Lawsuit
After the National Enquirer falsely reported that Philip Seymour Hoffman was involved in a gay affair with David Bar Katz, Mr. Katz filed a $50 million lawsuit.
And now, David has announced he’s using the money from his settlement to start a writers’ workshop with an annual cash prize.
As a playwright from New York, Katz is passionate about helping artists find their voice in order to make a positive impact on the writing community.
To that end, the American Playwriting Foundation will award a $45,000 grant each year to an unproduced play and the honor will be called the Relentless Award in remembrance of "Hoffman’s dogged pursuit of artistic truth."
