“The Hunger Games” Team Mourns Philip Seymour Hoffman’s Death
He was excellent as Head Game Maker Plutarch Heavensbee in “The Hunger Games” films, and Philip Seymour Hoffman will be missed by his costars and the production crew.
Director Francis Lawrence and author Suzanne Collins released a statement, saying, “Words cannot convey the devastating loss we are all feeling right now. Philip was a wonderful person and an exceptional talent, and our hearts are breaking. Our deepest condolences go out to his family."
A Lionsgate Films rep also shared, "Philip Seymour Hoffman was a singular talent and one of the most gifted actors of our generation. We're very fortunate that he graced our Hunger Games family. Losing him in his prime is a tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Philip's family."
And costar Sam Claflin added, "PSH - I am genuinely shocked, saddened and speechless. A truly wonderful man, with a magical touch. My hero. Thoughts are with his family."
At this point the “Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2” team is trying to figure out how to move forward as Hoffman still had about 7 days of filming yet to do.
