Oscar Pistorius Has Been Sentenced To Six Years For Murder

Disgraced sportsman Oscar Pistorius has been sentenced to six years in prison for murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

The Paralympian was originally convicted of culpable homicide, or manslaughter, for shooting Steenkamp at his home in Pretoria, South Africa in 2013, but the country's Supreme Court of Appeal overturned the conviction and found him guilty of murder in December, 2015.

The prosecution wanted to put him behind bars for 10 years for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp but in the end Oscar Pistorious will only spend five years in the slammer.

Earlier today (October 21) the South African Olympian received his sentence after being found guilty of culpable homicide stemming from the February 14th, 2014 shooting of Steenkamp.
