"Nymphomaniac II" Banned in Romania
Already causing a stir with the release of the first erotic chapter in his "Nymphomaniac" series, Lars Von Trier's "Nymphomaniac Volume II" has been declared unfit for public consumption by the Romanian cinema board.
Set for release on February 7th, the National Center of Cinematography stated Wednesday (January 29) that the film received a rating of "XXX," banning minors and the general public from its viewing.
Independence Film, which acts as distributor for "Nymphomaniac" released a statement saying that this situation characterizes "a case of censorship which is unique in Europe," also stating that it would appeal.
Critical of the rating decision, Georgica Severin, chairman of the Senate's Culture Committee, stated that the first movie in the sensual series was already released in Romania.
