Nicole Kidman & Clive Owen's Cannes "Hemingway & Gellhorn” Premiere
Capping off a busy week of the 65th Cannes Film Festival, Nicole Kidman and Clive Owen joined forces for the premiere of “Hemingway & Gellhorn” on Friday night (May 25).
The good looking co-stars were also accompanied by fellow castmate Rodrigo Santoro and director Philip Kaufman at the glitzy Palais des Festivals screening of their HBO movie production.
Per the synopsis, “Hemingway & Gellhorn” is “a drama centered on the romance between Ernest Hemingway and WWII correspondent Martha Gellhorn, Hemingway's inspiration for For Whom the Bell Tolls and the only woman who ever asked for a divorce from the writer.”
Noting that getting the full Cannes treatment for a TV movie isn't an ordinary occurrence, Kaufman told Deadline, “I don’t think they have ever done this with an American movie before. There was Carlos which was a miniseries made for French TV but Olivier Assayas is Cahiers Du Cinema and this is a French film festival. What an honor for me for a movie made for television to be selected here. I know HBO is thrilled.”
