Nick Cannon Responds to Whiteface Character Critics on the "Rachel Ray" Show
He made headlines with his whiteface character while promoting his new album White People Party Music, and now Nick Cannon is ready to respond to the criticism.
Set to air on Friday (April 4th), the “Drumline” star visits the “ Rachael Ray” show to chat about the controversial situation and shares details about his upcoming comedy special “’Blank’ Nick Cannon.”
“I mean, some ultra-sensitive people feeling a way, but I did that one purpose,” Cannon explained. "I mean, I’ve been planning this over a year, to release my album on April Fool’s Day, call it White People Party Music, and dress up as that character, Connor Smallnut.”
He continued, “The funny thing is, if you listen to the album, or kind of go into the back-story of that character, that character is an ultra-sensitive character that hates Nick Cannon, and is offended by the album title White People Party Music.”
In regards to “’Blank’ Nick Cannon,” Nick stated, “You know, some people can’t take a joke, but I wasn’t trying to reach those people anyway. I’m teaching people that have a sense of humor and know how to laugh.”
