"The Newsroom" Premiere: A Complete Look
Gathering together to debut their newest project, the stars of HBO’s series “The Newsroom” were on hand for the Los Angeles premiere earlier this week.
Looking dapper in their perfectly fitted suits at the ArcLight Cinemas Cinerama Dome, Jeff Daniels and his co-star Dev Patel were spotted talking with press before heading inside for the big reveal while the gorgeous Olivia Munn and Emily Mortimer also worked the red carpet in chic ensembles as they posed for the awaiting photographers.
Also in attendance included the show's stars Sam Waterston, Jane Fonda and Alison Pill, as well as creator Aaron Sorkin - who brought confirmation that he's dating "Sex and the City" actress Kristin Davis, as the two shared a sweet smooch on the buzzing red carpet.
According to the show’s website, the series “takes a behind-the-scenes look at the people who make a nightly cable-news program. Focusing on a network anchor (Daniels), his new executive producer (Mortimer), the newsroom staff (John Gallager, Jr., Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Munn and Patel) and their boss (Waterston), the series tracks their quixotic mission to do the news well in the face of corporate and commercial obstacle- not to mention their own personal entanglements.”
After taking part in this show, it looks like the former “Dumb and Dumber” actor has a new-found respect for those in the news industry.
In a recent interview with “Fresh Air’s” Terry Gross, Daniels explained the challenge of staying focused with all of the commotion around saying, "You're sitting right in the middle of it in a chair, and the traffic is going all around you on all sides. You understand how to do it, you get better at it, but I got an awareness and admiration for the guys who do that on a nightly basis who are able to keep [everything] straight and know where to look and where the guest is and which screen to go to and read the teleprompter."
