Tom Holland Named New “Spider-Man” Lead

Following in the footsteps of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, Tom Holland has scored the role of Spider-Man in the forthcoming 2017 flick.

On Tuesday morning (June 23) Marvel made the formal announcement, drawing attention to the 19-year-old British actor’s impressive resume which includes “The Impossible,” “Wolf Hall” and “Billy Elliot: The Musical.”

“Jurassic World” Sets New Domestic Box Office Record!

Up until this past weekend, “The Avengers” had the title for highest-earning opening weekend, but now “Jurassic World” is the reigning champion.

After tallying up the total domestic sales figures, the Chris Pratt flick surpassed the Marvel films’ $207.4 million with $208.8 million, and when added to its $315.3 million international take, “Jurassic World” is also the biggest global opener of all time.

Everyone knew that “Jurassic World” would be a huge flick, but over the weekend it raked in a global box office total of $511.8 million!

The Chris Pratt project scored $204.6 million domestically, putting it at #1 for June openings and #2 for all-time openings, just behind “The Avengers” which earned $207.4 million.

Adding some serious man candy to the mix, Chris Hemsworth will join Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon in the forthcoming reinvention of the classic “Ghostbusters” film.

Director Paul Feig took to his Twitter account on Wednesday (June 10) to break the news that he’d snagged the “Avengers: Age of Ultron” hunk to play a secretary.
