Box Office: "Maleficent" Casts her Spell
Casting her spell on movie-goers nationwide, "Maleficent" landed on top of the box office for the weekend of May 30 - June 1, 2014.
The Angelina Jolie fronted fairy tale nabbed $24.2 million on Friday, and will finish out its opening weekend with an impressive $65-70 million.
Last week's number one, "X-Men: Days of Future Past" will have to settle for second place this week. The action-adventure film took in $9.5 million on Friday, and will wind up with $31.5 million for the weekend.
Rounding out the top five in earmarked earnings are newcomer "A Million Ways to Die in the West" ($16.5 million) in third, sci-fi thriller "Godzilla" ($11 million) in fourth, and the Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler rom-com "Blended" ($8 million) in fifth.
