Box Office: "The Hobbit" Takes Top Spot for a Third Week

Fending off two worthy opponents, "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" is once again captured the top spot at the box office for the weekend of December 28-30, 2012.

The tale of Bilbo Baggins raked in an impressive weekend take of $31.5 million for its third week in theaters.

Landing in the second spot is the Leonardo DiCaprio-fronted "Django Unchained." Directed by Quentin Tarantino, the action thriller cashed in at $31 million in its first weekend.

Rounding out the box office in weekend earnings are the musical "Les Miserables" ($27.4 milllion) in third, followed by the family comedy "Parental Guidance" ($14.4 million) in fourth, and the Tom Cruise-fronted film "Jack Reacher" ($14 million) in fifth.
