“Noah” Scores Respectable $1.6 Million on Thursday Opening
Despite all the controversy and naysaying, “Noah” didn’t come close to bombing at the box office last night (March 27).
Based on the initial numbers, Paramount and New Regency are expecting an opening weekend take of between $40 million and $45 million domestically.
Furthermore, “Noah” has grossed $14 million total between Mexico and Korea, though given the $100 million production budget and extensive promotional spending, it’s not certain whether or not the studio will break even.
Also playing this weekend are Arnold Schwarzenegger’s “Sabotage,” and Lionsgate/Grupo Televisa’s “Cesar Chavez,” while “The Grand Budapest Hotel” will get an expanded release.
