Morgan Freeman: I Did “Transcendence” To Work With Johnny Depp
Given his vast resume and unquestionable industry credibility, Morgan Freeman has his pick of projects these days.
The “Evan Almighty” star told “Today” hosts Savannah Guthrie and Carson Daly that his latest film “Transcendence” hit his radar because of a few key elements, including lead actor Johnny Depp.
Morgan began, "There were three or four attractions to the role (in 'Transcendence'), one being Johnny (Depp) himself. Always wanted to have a shot at working with him."
Freeman also mentioned the movie’s caution against technology’s pitfalls. "This is a question we should be pondering, because we're really going pell-mell towards all kinds of technology. The question is, OK, so we can (do these things), but how far should it go before we realize we're no longer in control of it? It's not an easy thing to do, because in order to stop it you've got to shut the world down. Think about that."
