“The Monuments Men” Snatches $550,000 at Thursday Night Opening
With a great cast and a fabulous plot, “The Monuments Men” has been receiving a ton of buzz over the past year.
However, the George Clooney project (he wrote and directed it) only managed to bring in $550,000 during its Thursday night opening (February 6).
With a production cost of $70 million, the Sony/20th Century Fox flick is hoping to rake in between $15 million and $20 million this weekend as folks flock to see Clooney, Matt Damon, John Goodman, Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett, Hugh Bonneville and Jean Dujardin on the silver screen.
Meanwhile, “The Lego Movie” is also opening this weekend with expectations in the $45 million range, and “Vampire Academy” will likely ring up $10 million in ticket sales.
