Meredith Vieira Slated for Historical Olympic Coverage Tonight!

There has never been a woman to anchor NBC’s prime time Olympic coverage, but Meredith Vieira is about to change all of that.

The “Today” show star will fill in for Bob Costas to give Matt Lauer a break from his double duty of subbing for an ailing Costas (double eye infection) and his regular “Today” duties.

And Meredith can’t wait to get behind the desk at Sochi to make network history later tonight (February 14).

She gushed, “It’s an honor to fill in for him. You think about the Olympics, and you think the athletes and then Bob Costas.”

Meanwhile, Bob told Ryan Seacrest he is hopeful that he’ll be able to return to his post by the end of the weekend.
