Matthew McConaughey Continues Dramatic Weight Loss
Looking eerily gaunt, Matthew McConaughey was spotted leaving a gym in Austin, Texas on Friday (October 12).
The 42-year-old actor wore a dark zip-up jacket, beanie, track pants, and sneakers as he jogged back to his vehicle.
Fans need not worry, however, because the weight loss is preparation for his role in the upcoming film, "The Dallas Buyer's Club." McConaughey plays a man suffering from AIDS who was told to "go home and die."
In the drama, his character, Ron Woodroof, delves into the world of underground pharmacies that supply HIV drugs not approved for use in the U.S., in an attempt to prolong his life and, ultimately, the lives of thousands of other people.
The dedicated actor told Us Weekly, "I’m playing a guy who was sick and would have loved to have been healthier but wasn’t. For me, it’s more of a mental thing than a physical thing. I’ll get down to the weight I need to get to. I’m on my way, and it’s what I need to do for the job.”
