Mark Wahlberg Shoots "Transformers 4" in Detroit
Can Mark Wahlberg save Motown? The actor is definitely doing his part as he was spotted filming scenes for “Transformers 4” in Detroit on Wednesday (July 31).
The production is expected to bring in big bucks to the financially troubled city, but probably not (anywhere near) enough to save it from bankruptcy.
Crews for the Michael Bay-directed movie have been building what appears to be a Hong Kong street scene in downtown Detroit for several weeks. On Friday, scenes were shot showing people running from (fake) explosions.
“Transformers 4” is the follow-up to 2011’s “Transformers: Dark of the Moon.” To lure “Transformers 4” to the Motor City, Michigan provided incentives of $20 million to the film’s studio and producers.
The production is expected to result in more than $81 million in expenditures to the state. Keep an eye out for "Transformers 4" when it hits theaters on June 27, 2014.
