Lusting for Lanvin

Elbaz is his name and desire is his game. Israeli American designer, Alber Elbaz, of Lanvin is no stranger to the ways of women. Even during the height of our troubled economy, he still knows how to cater to his prey. He explained that, “Women are not going to buy less, they’re going to buy different. I think that they’re going to buy emotional pieces that they cannot resist.”

Elbaz set out to create a collection filled with the luxuries of fashion that a woman cannot live without. The SS09 collection revealed in Paris marked a conglomeration of quintessential Lanvin looks for every woman from young socialite to mature professional. Models paraded the catwalk in everything from fabulous party dresses to evening gowns, sophisticated suits with trousers, shorts, and skirts of all lengths. He kept his designs simple, conservative, and fashion forward. He unleashed his creativity through wild prints, bold colors, and an outrageous array of accessories. Ruffles, twists, and pleats added dimension to his designs, whether atop a one shoulder dress, front and center, or down the side of a mini skirt. Some of the simple sheaths were embellished from top to bottom with shimmering beads to give these looks that extra shove they needed to go from great to fabulous.
