"Les Miserables" Backs Out of Box Office Battle with "The Hobbit"
Making excited movie-goers wait just a bit longer to check out their new flick, Universal Pictures has decided to move the release date of “Les Miserables.”
While first being set to hit theaters on December 14th in what would have been a faceoff against “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” the Tom Hooper directed movie's release date has been pushed back to December 25th - as it joins “Django Unchained”, “The Guilt Trip” and ”Parental Guidance” as the big Christmas Day films.
Nonetheless, the producers and stars are still hoping to score solid numbers with their adaptation of the highly successful stage musical based on Victor Hugo's classic novel set in 19th-century France, in which a paroled prisoner named Jean Valjean seeks redemption.
