Lady Gaga to Drop NYE Ball in Times Square
Adding to the list of high profile names set to help usher in 2012, Lady Gaga has been selected as the official "ball dropper" for the New Year's celebration in New York City's Times Square.
Selected by Big Apple Mayor Michael Bloomberg, the Mother Monster will push the button that will begin the descent of the iconic Waterford crystal ball.
Secretary of State Hilary Clinton and Muhammad Ali are among the prior famous individuals chosen to carry out the task watched by millions each year.
In addition to her ball-dropping duties, Gaga will take the stage to perform on "Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve," which is co-hosted by Ryan Seacrest.
