Lady Gaga Causes Quite a Stir with “X Factor” Performance
She sang her new singles “Venus” and “Do What U Want” on the UK version of “The X Factor” and now Lady Gaga has received a deluge of crankiness from viewers.
According to a report, the “Just Dance” singer’s performance brought in 100+ complaints to television watchdog organization Ofcom, and another 60 naysayers have voiced their concerns to the ITV Network.
Mediawatch UK director Vivienne Pattinson explained, "The X Factor are doing everything they can to keep their ratings up. I don't think things like this should be in TV. It is damaging to the children who watch the show."
However, an ITV rep fired back, "We do not believe Lady Gaga's performance was inappropriate for the family audience of The X Factor Results show, which has an established tradition of featuring performances from the biggest music stars of the moment. Lady Gaga is well known for her highly individual performance style."
Just for context, Rihanna and Christina Aguilera garnered more than 2,800 complaints back in 2010 for their “X Factor” finale appearances.
