Kris & Bruce Jenner Announce Split on “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” Season 9 Premiere
They never shy away from real-life drama, and during part 1 of the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” Season 9 premiere last night (January 19) Kris Jenner and her husband Bruce confess their marriage is over.
As Bruce prepares to move out of his rented Malibu beach house, he laments, “It’s been such a great getaway. I mean, it’s peaceful. No drama.”
However, Kris explains, “The longer we live apart, the more reason they have to speculate [about our marriage]. I don’t need any of our friends, our family members speculating.”
Upon returning to the family home, Bruce complains, “Boy, when I moved out, they moved me out… Honestly, it looks like there’s no room for me to come back.”
Furthermore, Mr. Jenner notes, “We both have to admit that the energy between us is better when we’re apart… We’ve been together for 23 years and it seems we’re doing better apart and seeing each other [less often].”
Bruce continues, “I’m not looking to get divorced or anything… Why should we feel pressure from the media and public opinion to define our marriage?”
And when Kris learns that Bruce has extended his lease in Malibu, she shares, “As long it’s a good thing and it’s healthy for the family and the kids are happy and Bruce is happy, then it’s going to work out.”
Meanwhile, Kendall Jenner struggles with that status of the family- “What is this? Are we divorced parents’ kids now? Why do you care so much about being alone out here when your wife and kids are still growing up [elsewhere]?”
After further conversations, Ms. Jenner concludes, “I think we just both decided we want to be first and foremost family and friends. We’re better as friends than we are the other way.”
"Keeping Up with the Kardashians" continues with the second half of the Season 9 premiere tonight! (January 20).
