Katy Perry Tells Alan Carr How She Felt "Beaten Down" While Starting Work on Prism: Watch Here!
Enjoying Christmastime in London, Katy Perry stopped by "Alan Carr: Chatty Man" for an interview and performance of "Unconditionally" on Friday (December 20).
After chatting about her Christmas plans and what a big year she's had, the affable host asked her about the "dark place" she was in while making Prism.
Having moved onto happier times after her divorce from Russell Brand, the "Roar" singer explained, "It's fun to laugh at it now, it wasn't fun to laugh at it then. I was going through a period where a lot of negative thoughts were entering my mind and, obviously they did not succeed, but...I had my confidence kinda beaten down."
Talking about her transformation throughout the process, Katy continues, "It's a record about me going inside and doing a lot of self-reflection and looking at where I can kind of, figure out where can I make areas of myself better... Rather than pointing the finger and saying, "Oh you're the reason for all my problems or this is awful, my life is awful,' I go, 'Okay, how can I fix this.'"
