13-Year-Old Twins Mady & Cara Gosselin: “People Expect Us To Be Damaged”
They’ve grown up in the public eye and now that they’re teenagers, Mady and Cara Gosselin are ready to give their side of the reality television story.
The 13-year-old “Jon and Kate Plus 8” stars open up about their experiences in a new interview with People magazine, and it’s a bit surprising they’re so well-adjusted.
Cara begins, "People expect us to be damaged,” while Mady adds, "People think we're supposed to be messed up, like, 'Oooooh, the poor Gosselin kids, they're going to be scarred for life, waaaaah.' Here's the big news: we're not messed up."
Putting all worry to rest, Cara confirms, “We're fine. We're better than ever, actually."
As for their controversial mother Kate Gosselin, the girls are just like every other teenager in America. Mady jokes, "She is so annoying.”
"But she's annoying on purpose. Like, she does it just to bother us,” continues Cara.
Meanwhile, the twins admit that their parents’ divorce wasn’t exactly a walk in the park. Mady explains, "I don't remember any of it. At all. Actually the stuff I remember now is stuff I really didn't see anything wrong with at the time ... but now that I look back, I can see, 'Oh that wasn't really a good thing.' Like girlfriends. Lots of girlfriends. Like maybe that wasn't so normal to have someone new, like, every week."
Cara also notes that she’d love another shot at television. "We'd love to do it again. We miss the crew, the people we saw every day. It was fun."
