Johnny Cash's Great-Niece Murdered
Facing another tragic event, Johnny Cash’s great-niece Courtney Cash was found stabbed to death in her Tennessee home on Wednesday (March 19).
Putnam County Sheriff David Andrew stated the late musician’s kin was found stuffed into a box inside her home about 70 miles east of Nashville.
Andrews described the scene inside the house as “somewhat bloody” and added “there was a struggle.”
Miss Cash’s boyfriend William Austin Johnson is currently being treated for stab wounds at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He apparently escaped the gruesome attack with he and Courtney’s child.
Although the motive has yet to be released to the public, the sheriff believes drugs are involved. “This is a senseless, tragic death of a young lady whose life was probably taken as a direct or indirect result of drugs.”
The couple’s friend, Wayne Gary Masciarella, was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the attack. He’s currently being held without bond and has a court date scheduled for April 21st.
Johnny’s brother Tommy Cash addressed the loss of his granddaughter by asking for prayers for his family.
