Jay Leno's Final Episode of "The Tonight Show" Rakes in Massive Ratings
Topping the charts at a towering 14.6 million viewers, Jay's final run at the helm of "The Tonight Show" received its greatest numbers in viewership since the conclusion of "Seinfeld" in May of 1998.
Bested only by the biggest events in television history, Leno's farewell is the fourth largest episode telecast, beaten by the episode following the finale of "Cheers" in May of 1993, with 22.4 million viewers, Jay's taking over of "The Tonight Show" in 1992, with 16.1 million viewers, and the episode following the finale of "Seinfeld" in May 1998 with 15 million watchers.
The 63-year-old's final hosting of the familiar talk show featured an entourage of stars, including Kim Kardashian, Oprah Winfrey, Jim Parsons, Jack Black, Carol Barnett and Sheryl Crow, showcasing funny man Billy Crystal, who was Jay's first guest, and his very last.
