On the heels of publishing her 10th children's book "My Brave Year of Firsts," Jamie Lee Curtis garnered herself some added exposure by covering the December 2012 issue of Prevention magazine.

The 53-year-old actress looked stunning in a baby blue Neiman Marcus sweater for the Kwaku Alston shot front page while opening up about everything from finding her voice to becoming sober.

Highlights from Miss Curtis's interview are as follows. For more, be sure to pay a visit to Prevention!

On why she became an author:
"For me, writing books has allowed me to have a voice. Everybody has ideas. They just don't often have a place to put them. No matter what, writing what's in your head is a very good thing to do. Whether or not it's going to get published or it lives on a blog, there's more and more availability for expression. And that's really great."

On giving up her partying ways:
"I had understood for a long time that my relationship with drugs and alcohol was a problem. But because I was successful in so many ways, it disguised itself as recreational and fun. Still, I had a gnawing awareness that there was something bigger at play. So my awareness and then accepting the problem was a very big deal for me. I'm very lucky that I've been sober for almost 13 years."

On what's next:
"I actually don't know. I've never been someone who plans anything... Honestly, every good thing that's happened to me took place when I didn't know it was going to. Everything I've tried to control and manipulate has worked, but it hasn't been transformative."
