James Franco Pens Presidential Ode: Watch Here!
The "127 Hours" star recorded the video, entitled "Obama in Asheville" while in Utah for the Sundance Film Festival.
Referencing F. Scott Fitzgerald, Christopher Hitchens, Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, and Claire Danes, the bizarre freeform poem recounts the 34-year-old actor's own personal experience with the President.
When first speaking of his subject, he says, "I met Obama once, in D.C., the Correspondents' Dinner." Later, the former English major added, "He knew me from 'Spider-man.' I asked him for advice…I wondered how he dealt with detractors. He smiled his smile and said, 'Humor.'"
In great reverence of the leader, James calls him a "great servant of the people." Linking his own profession with the President's he wonders what it'd be like to portray him in film.
One of the requirements, according to Mr. Franco would be to get down his "essential kindness." Noting the similarities, he continues, "I'd say the lines just like they were written, just like Obama reads his lines." Check out the personal homage to the President below.
