Gary Ross is Out for “Catching Fire”

He did a killer job directing “The Hunger Games,” but Gary Ross will not be returning to helm the sequel “Catching Fire.”

The well-respected director announced the decision last night, noting that he “doesn’t have the time I need to write and prep the movie I would have wanted to make because of the fixed and tight production schedule.”

As if there wasn’t enough hype going around regarding “The Hunger Games,” Mattel has released a special collector’s edition Katinss Barbie doll.

The new figure is nothing short of awesome, complete with boots, a black and orange jacket, a Mockingjay pin, and of course the bow and arrow setup.

Showing off her comedic side, Sofia Vergara took on the role of Effie Trinket from "The Hunger Games" as one of her skits from this weekend's (April 7) "Saturday Night Live" hosting gig.

The "Modern Family" beauty wore a lavender colored wig that closely resembled that of Elizabeth Banks' character from the wildly popular action/adventure flick while joined in the segment by SNL veterans, Bill Hader and Fred Armisen, who posed as the commentators for the games.

Trumping the competition for the third week in a row, "The Hunger Games" comfortably remained in the top spot at the box office to kick off the Easter holiday weekend of April 6-8, 2012.

The Jennifer Lawrence starring Sci-Fi/Action/Drama film based on Suzanne Collins' best-selling book raked in an estimated $12.9 million on Friday with its weekend total predicted to wind up at a solid $33.5 million.

She's been widely praised by most, Jennifer Lawrence has seen a group of dissenters who are opining that she's too "big-boned" to be convincing as the character of Katniss Everdeen in "The Hunger Games".

With the book's original character described as "poor" and "hungry," the naysayers aren't pleased with the 21-year-old's well built physique - as they think a skinnier female lead would have been a better choice.

Turning up for yet another premiere of her new film, Jennifer Lawrence hit the Capitol cinema red carpet for the Spanish debut of “The Hunger Games” held in Madrid on Monday (March 26).

The 21-year-old actress rocked a Victoria Beckham collection color blocked mini dress and black booties while posing for photographers and greeting the large crowd of awaiting fans - with the movie not slated to be released in Spanish theaters until April 20th.
