"Frozen" Freezes Out Competitors at the Box Office

With a snow storm blanketing the Mid-West and Eastern portion of the country, movie-goers were few and far between for the weekend of January 3-5, 2013.

Disney Animation's fittingly named "Frozen" climbed to the top spot at the box office, with a $6.8 million Friday and a three day total of $20.7 million.

The newly released horror flick "Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones" grabbed a second place finish with a $8.7 million opening and a total weekend take of $18.2 million.

Rounding out the top five in earmarked earnings are three time winner "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" ($16 million) in third, Leonardo DiCaprio's drama "The Wolf of Wall Street" ($13.3 million) in fourth, and American Hustle" starring Jennifer Lawrence ($13.2 million) in fifth.
