Hilary Duff & Mike Comrie Reportedly Tried Marriage Counseling Prior to Divorce
Her split with Mike Comrie went viral on Friday (January 10) and now it's been revealed that Hilary Duff and her hubby of three years reportedly sought help with their marriage for more than a year.
Sources close to the couple told Us Weekly they attended marriage counseling for 18 months prior to calling it quits.
"She felt he didn't put enough effort into the relationship," one of the insider stated. "He wasn't doing any of the thing they'd worked on [during the counseling]."
A second source told the tabloid that after retiring from the NHL after his injury in 2012, Mike became unmotivated. "He never did anything!"
Unfortunately, the "Lizzy McGuire" star and her beau were just unable to rekindle the romance. "The spark was no longer there. They are better as friends," a third insider explained.
Hilary and Mike may have decided to ended their marriage, but they are making an effort to keep their new friendship intact. Since the announcement, the couple has been seen in public with their son and even were together when Hilary tweeted about the sad news.
Miss Duff wrote, "Mike and I are sitting here. We are so appreciative for all your kindness & well wishes. Not an easy day but we're getting thru it together."
