They’ve always been outspoken about their support for gay rights, and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis helped a bunch of couples, gay and straight, tie the knot at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards tonight (January 26).

In total, 34 pairs of spouses said “I Do” while the “Thrift Shop” hitmakers performed their song “Same Love” with the help of Mary Lambert, Madonna, Madonna and Trombone Shorty.

Lewis explained that the weddings “will be in our minds the ultimate statement of equality, that all the couples are entitled to the same exact thing.”

Ryan’s sister Laura and her fiancé Alex were among those who got hitched. Lewis added, “A night that is already tremendous for me, for the music, but to have my sister get married and my family there watching it — that makes it a whole other level of amazing.”
