It’s always exciting when a bunch of celebrities gather to one-up each other, and earlier tonight (January 12) Chiwetel Ejiofor looked ready to take on all at the 71st Golden Globes.

The “12 Years a Slave” star got plenty of attention as he showed up outside the Beverly Hilton ahead of the momentous occasion.

This year, the 36-year-old actor is crossing platforms, nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama and Best Actor in a Mini-Series or TV Movie for "Dancing on the Edge."

It’s going to be another fabulous year of fierce competition thanks to a wealth of worthy films in the running.

The Best Picture (Drama) nominees include “12 Years a Slave,” “Captain Phillips,” “Gravity,” “Philomena,” and “Rush,” while “American Hustle,” “Her,” “Inside Llewyn Davis,” “Nebraska,” and “The Wolf of Wall Street” are all vying for the Best Picture (Musical or Comedy) title.
