Fred Willard Tweets "Wait Til You Hear My Version" After Arrest
Using Twitter to voice his side of the story, Fred Willard is denying reports that he has been fired from PBS after being arrested for allegedly masturbating while watching an adult movie at Tiki Theater on Santa Monica Boulevard.
The 72-year-old comedian told his 62 thousand Twitter fans on Monday morning (July 23), "Wait til u hear my version; much more PG. & my review, lousy film, but theater would make a terrific racquetball court. Full story 2 follow."
Although PBS canned Willard as "Market Warriors" narrator because of the incident, the actor sent out a promotional tweet earlier today for the ABC comedy series "Trust Us with Your Life" which he hosts saying, "I was not fired from TUWYL so B sure 2 watch."
After police confirmed Fred was put in the slammer, his lawyer came to his defense issuing the statement, "Our belief is that Fred did nothing in any violation of any law. We will be working vigorously to clear his name in this matter."
The producer of "Market Warriors" released a statement following the arrest which read, “Given the unfortunate news reported today, effective immediately, Fred Willard no longer will be involved with the ‘Market Warriors’ series.”
