Quentin Tarantino Named as Humanitas Finalist

His career in filmmaking is as impressive as it is prolific, and Quentin Tarantino has been selected as a finalist for the Humanitas Prize.

The “Pulp Fiction” mastermind will compete against David O. Russell and John Gatins for the $95,000 purse at the 39th annual event.

VES Awards Announces Nominations

Given the massive role of special effects in today’s film industry, the Visual Effects Society has plenty of material to consider in determining each year’s stand-outs.

And earlier today, the nominees for the 11th Annual VES Awards were announced, spanning 24 categories of film, animation, television, video games, and commercial projects. The winners will be declared during an official ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on February 5th.

Faring quite nicely upon its theatrical debut, Disney's "Wreck-It Ralph 3D" emerged victorious at the box office as the weekend of November 2-4, 2012 came to a close.

The animated film about a video game villain who wants to be a hero, but instead wrecks havoc, garnered estimated sales of $13.4 million on Friday and $21.2 million on Saturday with a $50 million projected take over its first three days of release.
