Evangeline Lilly Talks Natural Lifestyle in Women's Health January/February 2014
Continuing to enjoy the success of her latest film "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug," Evangeline Lilly garnered herself a little added exposure by covering the January/February 2014 issue of Women's Health magazine.
While showing off her flawless figure for the Peggy Sirota-shot spread, the 34-year-old actress opened up about her commitment to have a natural birth and revealed how she fought her depression over the years.
Highlights from Miss Lilly's interview are as follows. For more, be sure to pay a visit to Women's Health!
On her 30 hours of labor:
"In the end, it was an incredible accomplishment, and [Norman and I] really did it together. That was the main reason we fought for a natural birth: We wanted it to be about the two of us bringing our son into the world, not about a doctor and a nurse bringing [our son] into the world."
On her return to "Lost" after giving birth:
When I was on 'Lost,' I prided myself on being the woman who never used a stunt double, who could do anything a guy could do. But there were things that I just physically could not do three months after giving birth. There were motions that my hips couldn't make; I couldn't move my leg in [certain] ways. I had to swallow my pride. But when we came back for reshoots, I vindicated myself!"
On her organic diets:
"For years, I'd struggled with depression. I'd tried medication, but I hated it and I went off of it after two weeks. But within a year or two of eating as organic as I could, I realized that without even being conscious of it, the fog of depression had been lifted."
On her privacy:
"Back when I was dating Dominic [Monaghan, her 'Lost' costar] I felt like a caged animal... all the time, worried about who would know what. And it became a self-made prison."
