"Modern Family" Sweeps the 2011 Emmy Awards
They're television's favorite dysfunctional brood, and last night the cast and crew of "Modern Family" cleaned house, nabbing five big-time Emmy wins.
The ABC hit swept the show, taking home top honors in each of the five of the categories it received a bid, including Julie Bowen's capture of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy series, Ty Burrell as Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, Outstanding Director for a Comedy Series and the coveted overall title of Best Comedy.
In shock over her big win, Miss Bowen poked some fun at herself, announcing, "Oh, my God, I don't know what I'm going to talk about in therapy next week. I won something."
Continuing the laughs, her TV hubby, Burrell added, "I actually got kind of a late start in acting. My dad actually passed away before he ever saw me perform and I can't help but wonder what he would think about all this ... going to work in full makeup."
