Emma Thompson: “You Can’t Be a Great Mom and Keep Working All the Time”
She’s accomplished so much in her long and impressive film career but Emma Thompson isn’t about to let her work interfere with raising her 14-year-old daughter Gaia Wise.
The “Saving Mr. Banks” star decided she needed to spend a full year away from acting as he doesn’t believe it’s good for moms to work full-time.
Thompson shared, "A year off was my birthday present to myself. I didn’t actually act or write. I was just a mom. I taught drama at my daughter’s school, cooked meals, and had fun. I highly recommend others to do the same, if they can afford it."
Emma also ruffled a few feathers with her declaration, “You can’t be a great mom and keep working all the time.”
However, working moms seemed a bit miffed at the remark, with one woman tweeting, “I resent that. If you aren’t obsessed with housework, prioritize and share chores with hubby you can work AND be a great mom.”
