Ed Helms Signs On For “Naked Gun” Reboot
The late great Leslie Nielsen made Lieutenant Frank Drebin a slapstick favorite in the “Naked Gun” films, and now Ed Helms will pick up where he left off.
According to a report, the “Office” star has signed on to head up the forthcoming reboot from Paramount Pictures, and “Reno 911” masterminds Thomas Lennon and R. Ben Garant will handle the screenplay.
Per industry insiders, Helms’ version of Drebin will retain much of his original charm and humor but there will also be a new spin on the character.
Back in the day, Nielsen was known for such ridiculous lines as “It’s true what they say: Cops and women don’t mix. It’s like eating a spoonful of Drano; sure, it’ll clean you out, but it’ll leave you hollow inside.”
